Yes, it works. If you're mechanically inclined, installation is pretty easy. Finding ways to wire the living area to power the camera takes some creativity. When drilling holes in walls, be careful of hidden wires, pipes, etc. Watch YouTube videos to learn how to route the wires. Do yourself a favor and spend a few hours planning and checking camera placement before you start drilling holes in your home. I've found the cameras connect wirelessly through up to 4 vinyl walls within 40 feet of the NVR with no issues. I bought power extension cords and every foot of it was needed to power the camera. In some situations it's easier to just install a new outlet, but probably not cheaper. Power extension cords cost about $9 for 30 feet. The ground floor camera wiring was routed behind the siding and through a hole in the basement. The second floor went to the attic to the outlet. Cameras only have 70 degree images so plan accordingly. Night Vision IR LEDs glow red in the dark, making it easy to see your camera if you look closely enough. I hid mine under the eaves of the house and raised the drainpipe. The LEDs glare in the picture at night as they reflect off the white cornices of my house. I had to play around with positioning to remove the blowout. Be sure to check the image at night before installing the camera permanently. The manual includes a block diagram in the form of a drawing for the order in which the electronics are connected. I followed the order given and the cameras connected automatically. Daytime images are very clear, but don't expect them to be too large at 2MP. Night vision is fine, lots of glare from car headlights. Difficult to pick up a license plate at any distance at night. It shows images 100 feet away at night, but without the ability to zoom in they're useless. Maybe some tech savvy people could improve them. Probably above my salary level. I connected it to my HDTV via an HDMI cable and it works fine for the monitor. Basically plug and play. Just read the manual and don't skip a single step. A wireless mouse is required for viewing on a wall-mounted TV. Playback is easy, no surprises. There is FF but I can't find slow motion. Works great with a strong internet connection, twitches a bit when the speed drops. All in all, this is a great system for less than $300 with the hard drive already installed and formatted. In fact, I enjoy learning all the intricacies of the system. Didn't need customer support so can't comment on that. I hope you like it. Updated 5/9/2020 Ok you get what you pay for. The app crashed recently and after 5 months there is still no working app for remote viewing and notifications. Check out the Play Store and read the reviews. The same prepared support answer with no actual help. I think I can either stay at home and look at the pictures on the wired system or use it as a paperweight. Cameras and hard drives are useless without reliable remote viewing and notifications. My advice is to look elsewhere for a better system.
