These tips are electroplated as shown; even though it says so in the description. These tips can be used in an older version of a soldering gun like mine that requires the tips to be bent. You simply place the zip ties on the ends of the soldering tips (threaded side out) and then take your pliers and bend the end sideways about 1/4" to 3/8" to fit the hole in the end of the soldering gun . . Note that the bend radius should be fairly tight, but don't try to make a perfectly straight right angle bend or it may break. Also, be sure to bend the two ends of the tip in exactly the same place so the tip sits properly and straight. If you do, these nozzles will fit perfectly and work great with an old Weller soldering gun like mine. Weller sells a version of this with the coupling nuts attached and pre-bent ends for about double the price of regular tips. But with a bit of skill you can save money by bending the ends yourself and reusing Weller collets. I love that these tips are metal coated. Weller soldering tips often need to be re-tightened because copper oxidation at the solder end prevents the tip from fully heating up. If you find your tip isn't heating up well, loosen the nut or bolt a little and then retighten - do not tighten further without doing this. This will get rid of the oxidation in the tip connection so you don't have to over tighten the connection. Over-tightening the flare nuts can shear the end of the tip in the soldering gun, requiring the end of the tip to be bent for installation.
