Review on 🚰 Santevia Gravity Water System - Countertop Model: Alkaline and Fluoride Filter with Mineral Infusion, Chlorine and Fluoride Removal by Faye Wright

Updated to get a better view after 3 years of use

--------------------------------- ------------------------------------------------ ---------UPDATE FEBRUARY 11, 2015 - Upgraded from 2* to 3* I bought this Santevia instead of Zen thinking I would have fewer problems if I paid $100 more. Not this case. I just assembled my filter and everything was fine the first day. On the second day the faucet didn't close properly and I had a puddle of water on the floor. At the same time, the upper tank began to leak, so I tried to tighten the nut holding the ceramic filter. This seems to have stopped the leak for now. The unit is all plastic and I wish they would offer glass tanks as an option. I have a feeling the plastic is tearing. As other reviewers have noted, the water spout is cheaply made and I can see it breaks easily. I emailed Santevia that my faucet was broken. I was expecting it to be a much more durable device for $190, so I'm disappointed. The warranty is only 90 days so I'm wondering why it's so short. I'm still debating whether to keep it because I couldn't find another inexpensive alkaline filter. If I do this, I'm willing to apply to my credit card company for an extended guarantee in case something goes wrong. ----------------------- ------------------------------------- ---- ------------------------ ---- UPDATE 11 FEBRUARY 2015 - Upgraded from 2* to 3*. Left this unit because the customer service was really good. They replaced the spout with a better one with a blue handle. So if you have the old silver color, you can get a free replacement. I was dealing with a build up of water on a long filter causing water to leak out. It appears that their filters were packed too tightly, preventing the water from flowing at a sufficient rate. They told me to shake the filter and restore it but when that didn't work they replaced the filter for free. Check the alkalinity in filtered water and it was 8.5-9 compared to tap water 7 (Brita water was 6!). I wish it was higher but it seems to work. Although it took a long time to get it working properly, it was good enough. I will recommend buying it until the best desktop alkaline filter is found. ------------- ------------------------------------------- -------- ----------------------------------------UPDATE March 2018 - Upgraded from 3* to 4* Still with the same block and good for my family in the end work. They developed kinks in their product. Their marketing communication could have been better, for example to my surprise they cut off the 5 step filter (see image) without mentioning it on their website or in the video. Tweeted to check and they have confirmed the change. The PH with the shorter filter was 8.4 (I think the longer filter was closer to 9). The only one recently came out with a fluoride filter, so I'll try that next time.
