Leaks at threads

Threads at gauge-plastic junction leaked, taped (not necessarily to plastic connector) and it slowed down but still leaked. the thread goes in with no gasket at all, so the bottom of the thread goes in with no gasket at all. I found a rubber washer to compress it instead of a waterproof thread, but I overtightened it and broke the plastic fitting. pretty lame, they should ship something that doesn't leak!
