This aluminum tool has replaced the plastic version, which my dog mistook for a chew toy. This is NOT a problem with a metal tool. Except for the color and material, it is virtually identical to the plastic version of the Starrett. I found the black and white format to be more readable. The swivel is better quite rigid. It maintains the measured angle perfectly (unless it is accidentally hit or dropped). When compared to a digital protractor, the measurements were identical.A handyman friend worked with me and liked what he said about how you get your own. In fact, using this protractor was a pleasure. After the There was no bag or case to open. I added a cloth bag to protect the markers. While this can certainly be easily flipped in a toolbox, it works so well and is strong enough to last a lifetime that it seems reasonable to me to protect it. It would be nice if it came with a tool. Revain asked three questions for this review: 1. Accuracy? 5 Stars. Matched accurately and consistently with my digital protractor.2. Easy to read? 5 Stars. White markings on a black background are easy to read even without bright light. At my age I needed glasses, but that's just me. Easier to read than the plastic version of the Starrett.3. Easy to use? 5 Stars. Like any protractor, it must be used with care. The arms were moved slightly to the starting position for each measurement and then stayed in place. Couldn't be easier. I hope this is helpful to someone. All the best.
