I recently bought an AMD Radeon 7850 for casual gaming and was particularly intrigued by AMD's Eyefinity software which can cover gaming on 3 or more monitors. So I bought two old monitors cheap on eBay that were the same size and resolution as my current one. Since the graphics card only had one DVI connector to be able to use the supplied DVI-VGA adapter, I had to use two Mini DisplayPorts. I didn't hesitate to try this adapter when it had the best reviews and most other Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapters were almost the same price as the monitors themselves! I was not disappointed. When I first took these adapters out of the box I checked out the build quality and was very pleased. The cable connections and connector seemed pretty solid, and while it's not a big deal to me since it won't budge much from the back of my desktop, it's what a laptop user will be looking for. Hooking it up was easy as the Mini DisplayPort fit snugly and snapped firmly into place, while the VGA end slid in easily and the screws fitted perfectly. The computer recognized the new monitors immediately and I was able to work with them straight away. Installation couldn't be easier. I immediately launched the AMD Eyefinity software and that was all I needed to play on all three monitors. The 4032 x 1024 resolution looks impressive and these adapters are perfect for that use. Many people have complained that other manufacturers' adapters don't deliver the best quality, have problems with video output, or are even not recognized by monitors at all. That wasn't the case with these two. Overall, I'm pleased with the convenience, quality, and durability of these Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapters. If I ever need computer cables or adapters again, the first place I look is Cable Matters.
