Good Price Slow Interface Old Android Version

This is a simple and affordable Android head unit. Basic functions like Bluetooth connection and map/GPS download work well. If you want to make more customizations, advanced features are available. The processor is quite slow and the Android version is actually 6.0 mixed with 8.1Go and not 9.1, despite what is stated in the specifications description and in the changed Android settings. Screen. This means that some applications that require OS version higher than 6.0/API 23 cannot be installed or features are missing. RAM size, flash storage and CPU were announced at 2GB and 32GB respectively. I use a 128GB USB flash drive to store movies, music, Spotify download cache, Google Maps offline downloads and other big data apps. The screen is a very good size for a 10.1 inch car dashboard. There is noticeable flicker when viewing some very black images, and hard viewing at an angle has color/contrast errors, but is very comfortable for most viewing angles on my tundra. The screen is visible in all but the brightest, direct sunlight. However, you should purchase a trimmed oversized screen protector (including the reset button and exposed face mic) to get rid of fingerprints, which are very visible from many lighting angles due to the glossy glass screen (I used this: https://www.amazon .com/gp/product/B07K1JR66F). The device was too wide to fit my double din adapter and I had to cut/drill it to provide extra width and attach it securely (I used this: https://smile.amazon.com/ gp/product/B000Z4G4H4 ). Other adapters may or may not have this problem. Waze, Google Maps, Spotify, Musixmatch, YouTube, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, Podcast Republic, Revain Prime Video, Plex, and a few other apps load and work reasonably well. Netflix must be downloaded with the downloaded APK. Some apps load slowly and only a few apps can run without closing others in the background (likely needed to run smoothly on limited hardware). Volume control apps don't work because this device has a weird way of handling all volume levels; They can only be controlled via steering wheel controls (once programmed onto your steering wheel) or touchscreen buttons; Speed control apps, Tasker or other apps cannot control volume normally, but it can be done by sending special increase/decrease intent (xy.android.gtpkey.voladd/xy.android.gtpkey.voldec). The Torque app works well with my OBD2 adapter to display vehicle system parameters. Android Auto can be configured to work both wirelessly and via USB using a deck app called Head Unit Reloaded ($5 on the Play Store). You may need to install the Android Auto app on your phone, enable developer options on that app, and then run the head unit server on that app every time you restart your phone. Without taking your phone out of your pocket, you can use an app like Tasker on the main unit to set the deck to automatically launch Android Auto by restarting the main unit when the phone is connected. However, you either need a persistent hotspot or set your phone to automatically turn on the hotspot when connected to bluetooth (my settings are samsung note 10+ and bixby routines to turn on mobile hotspot when bluetooth is connected to the truck is connected). I just use the shortcut button to launch Android Auto on the deck when I want to use it. To ensure the deck always connects to Bluetooth and WiFi, I had to tweak Tasker's feature to enable it after a reboot, as it would sometimes start with one system or another disabled. Application launcher, microphone boost options and USB device. The ADB usage mode can be set in the Factory settings section (password 8888). You can set your own startup logo and boot animation (I use the Toyota versions). The device starts with a cold start (complete shutdown) within approx. 25 seconds. Once downloaded, it starts up almost immediately as soon as you turn on the device, unless it's been turned off for a day or two or more. The rear camera input (works with my standard rear camera) turns on almost immediately, even on a cold start. I've seen a few random reboots in the week I've been using it, but it could be due to the initial install/uninstall and tweaking of some apps. The steering wheel controls work well for basic functions without an adapter: mode (toggle between Home and some recently used apps), volume, next/previous, answer/hang up call. For some reason, assigning the steering wheel voice button to a voice function doesn't do anything (I wanted Google Voice to open; I need to use the desktop button instead and assign that steering wheel button to play/pause.) . The phone buttons on the steering wheel work well and the speakerphone works well after adjusting the microphone settings in the factory settings. There is no input for an external microphone. You can manually enter phone numbers into the Bluetooth dialer or select from contacts synced from your phone in the Bluetooth app. However, it will not initiate a call with a Bluetooth-connected phone from a regular Android contacts app like Google Contacts or other sources that would normally initiate a call. Installing FCC Car Launcher from Play Store allows some apps to start a phone call. The amp control cable works, but you need to make sure the amp widget is enabled in the toggle section of the notification dropdown. This widget controls the on/off of the amplifier control cable. My Tundra required a speaker level CAN bus controller adapter to connect the amplified outputs of this stereo to my stock JBL amp (I used this one: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00133RCCC) . The fader is a little wobbly but works reasonably well. All in all a decent device for the price if you can live with some quirks and a slow interface.

Pros
  • β˜… Bluetooth Car Radio: Indash car radio has built-in Bluetooth 4.0. Connects to Bluetooth-enabled devices like smartphones for hands-free calls, music streaming and distraction-free. Built-in microphone, dual USB adapter input.
Cons
  • I really don't like it, everything is fine
