I'm by no means an audio expert, but lately I've been playing around with sound a lot, connecting one device to another (e.g. output from a laptop there is one entrance to another), often a rumble is obtained. This device significantly reduced noise in most tests I tried. Often, but not always, the volume drops after passing through this device, but it depends on the original signal. I also have a gaming headset where the headphone audio would sometimes interfere with the mic and I was able to virtually eliminate this by using a mic/headphone splitter and placing this device on the side of the headphones.
