Difficult to clean

Works well. Our golden doodles drink and drip water on the parquet floor. When she got this bowl she was just frustrated, put her paw right in the bowl and pressed the float plate down. After being taught not to, things got a little better, but she still manages to wet her face and drip water, but not as much. One issue I have with this bowl is that it is LARGE and holds a lot of water which the bowl really needs to function well. Even with our 11 lb dog and 30 lb dog using it and drinking plenty of water a day, there's plenty of water. I don't think this will be a problem for some but our dog loves to eat and drink and the food ends up in the bowl all the time. You can't see if there's food in the bowl or if the water is dirty because there's a float plate in there and you have to break off the edge to get the plate out. Because of this, we pour out a lot of water and snack every day, and we only use spring water for our dogs, so that's a lot of wasted water. The big problem I have is that the float plate is not one piece. These are two pieces that slide together. Water gets trapped between these two plates, which can lead to mold growth. I'm not sure you should do this, but you can take them apart, which isn't easy, and then put them back together is just as tedious. This is the only way I've found to clean old rough water. Do this every day for a very long time. There has to be an easier way to prevent dogs from getting their whole face/beard wet while drinking.
