I bought this meat grinder based on recommendations from various cooking websites to replace a smaller one that had been taking quite a while to use. In the fall I made a lot of applesauce because we had a rich harvest that fall. The recommendations are correct: this grinder processes large quantities very quickly. BUT as others have said, the circular mechanism is too close to the 'teeth' of the bottom disc. When using the grinder, not only can you hear the grinding of metal on metal, but also the grinding of too much shell. If the shell was crushed normally, it would be fine. Instead, there are "millions" of tiny pieces of peel in applesauce that make it unappetizing. So I have to run the apples through a second grinder to remove them. By the time I do, I may have used a less efficient grinder in the first place. Messages to the company asking for a solution if I haven't replied and I don't see a way to adjust the spring to raise the circular mechanism a bit. .
