You may all have found one that works properly, but I have batches of 2-6 gallons of NEIPA that I brewed on Saturday. It arrived the following Wednesday. On Thursday, both fermentations slowed to a crawl, so I think they're almost over. I decided to check and both are still showing lots of sugar at 1.030. So the next day I decided to take a reading from my hydrometer. Both bottles read 1.012, but the refractometer still reads just under 1.030. At the moment I trust the readings of the areometer. As a final verification step, I decided to read the DRY Catawba example I have. This refractometer reads a gravity of 1.020 and should be close to or exactly ZERO. That's far. And yes, I calibrated it before using it. And I even tried calibrating it to match my hydrometer but it didn't match that far. I will send it back and look for a better model.
