    Type of review

Good day to all readers of this review! Today my review will be about another acquisition from the Chinese Republic, in particular about a refractometer for measuring the alcohol content of a liquid. The device is highly specialized and performs the function of simply an alcoholometer. It is worth considering that this device is intended for alcohols that do not contain sugar and are transparent, so it uses, in principle of its action, the refraction of light in a liquid. In colored liquids…

An almost irreplaceable thing!- my review about this product

Optical alcoholmeter, aka Refractometer. I've been using this device for a couple of years now. A friend gave it to me for my birthday. I used to use glass aerometers, but when I got this refractometer, I mostly use it only! To start working with him, it is really desirable to correct, calibrate the readings on some proven alcoholic drink. Fortunately, this is not difficult to do, the kit includes a small screwdriver to adjust the adjustment screw. I calibrated on vodka, whiskey and just…

    Very satisfied! in refractometer

UPDATE (9/2/17)! The refractometer I originally received had a small defect (a fiber in the lens system). It was more annoying than anything but I can't rate it highly. The company responded to me within a week of my review. I was offered to send a new refractometer free of charge. Your customer service was absolutely fantastic! The new refractometer is great! Highly recommended! 😊

    Exactly? Best in Refractometer

It's really easy to use. I tested it with distilled water and it was properly calibrated. Used it to check the SG start of a batch of wine and it was fine, matched my hydrometer. But when I checked my wine a second time, the refractometer was nowhere near my hydrometer reading - the refractometer reading was much higher than the hydrometer reading. The refractometer scale doesn't go below 0.0 and my hydrometer reads 0.996. The instructions do not say how to view lower readings, such as: B. how…

Works well for substance analysis instruments

Using the formula from the brewery I found that the calculated specific gravity was within 3 points or so of the hydrometer reading. So it's not entirely accurate, but it's much more convenient - a sample is a few drops, not a full bottle. It is very easy to follow the progress of the brew and to indicate the end of fermentation. I would still use a hydrometer before and after fermentation to calculate ABV and sometimes in between to check it. For some reason the dividing line of the cherry…

    Inaccurate Readings

You may all have found one that works properly, but I have batches of 2-6 gallons of NEIPA that I brewed on Saturday. It arrived the following Wednesday. On Thursday, both fermentations slowed to a crawl, so I think they're almost over. I decided to check and both are still showing lots of sugar at 1.030. So the next day I decided to take a reading from my hydrometer. Both bottles read 1.012, but the refractometer still reads just under 1.030. At the moment I trust the readings of the…

Super easy to use! fits refractometer

So easy. Nobody really seemed to explain how it works. This is a sealed unit so no liquid/juice actually enters the instrument. There is a fold-out piece of plastic on the slanted part at the front of the device. You simply fold the piece of plastic up, exposing the sloping piece of glass underneath. You put a few drops of juice on the jar, then put the plastic lid back on the jar and squeeze the juice between the plastic and the jar. Make sure there are no bubbles between the glass and plastic

    I should have known!

Starting a 75 gallon saltwater aquarium and a 15 gallon quarantine aquarium. When I set up a 75 liter tank, I needed way more salt than stated on the salt container to get the right salinity. I calibrated the refractometer with distilled water and it read zero so I didn't think about it too much. We move on to the quarantine tank and the same case. Gravity 1.025. This is about 7 to 7 1/2 cups for a 15 gallon tank. I drank up to 9 cups and still haven't reached 1025 SG. I was beginning to…

Works well some reviews don't know how it works

This is literally an identical device being sold for double the price in some online breweries. It is excellent for testing non-fermented solutions. It has been calibrated to 0 with distilled water and agrees with my hydrometers by 40 points. The focus ring works, the numbers are clear. The blue/clear transition is clear enough for accurate readings. Other reviews indicate inaccuracy compared to the hydrometer when using partially or fully fermented foods. That's right, they don't read straight

Great tool for brewing whole grain

When I brewed my first whole grain beer I had some problems with the equipment and no experience and ended up with a low initial density but didn't know about it until the beer was ready and chilled was and I checked with my floating areometer. With this refractometer, I can see the progress of the mashing process and watch the increase in gravity, letting me know how things are going and when they're done. It also allows me to adjust the overall volume to reach my target OG. However, this…

    • Can't remember

This device will be needed for those who are engaged in winemaking or home brewing. I have been engaged in winemaking for more than a year and there was a need for an accurate measurement of the alcohol content in the finished product. I used vinometers and alcohol meters, but they do not have special accuracy and are not very convenient to use. Then I looked at Aliexpress for this device and decided to order it, and I was very pleased with the purchase. For an accurate measurement of alcohol…
