It's really easy to use. I tested it with distilled water and it was properly calibrated. Used it to check the SG start of a batch of wine and it was fine, matched my hydrometer. But when I checked my wine a second time, the refractometer was nowhere near my hydrometer reading - the refractometer reading was much higher than the hydrometer reading. The refractometer scale doesn't go below 0.0 and my hydrometer reads 0.996. The instructions do not say how to view lower readings, such as: B. how to switch to another scale.
