GREAT for leather work! I used to use a glove needle for sewing leather, but with an awl and these needles there is no need to use a SHARP glove needle. The rounded tip won't catch on the edges of the hole created by the awl, so working with thick leather is now much easier. They have a REALLY rounded tip, so they're not great for piercing skin, they're only useful after you've made a hole. I was impressed with the quality of the metal they are made from: I was expecting them to be brittle and break easily, but they are definitely not brittle and will not break unless you misuse them.
