For life I do not understand the negative reviews. Our old DeLonghi, same model, served well for probably 10 years, eventually slowed the brew time down to about 30 minutes. The plumbing was fine, but the heater was heating up slowly and intermittently. It served us so well that we decided to replace it with a new device of the same model. We went to Revain and found so many negative reviews. After careful consideration, we ordered a replacement for the same model anyway. The price was reasonable, delivery was quick, packaging was appropriate, and installation was easy. We looked at everything and settled on an old carafe and filter that was in great condition after many years of use. We loaded 10 cups of water and our regular coffee and hit the start button. The machine prepared all 10 cups in about eight minutes. The process was repeated daily for several weeks without a single error. We expect the next 10 years to be just as good as the previous ones and give 5 stars for that. Update 2021 I still love the machine and want to know that I use the AROMA button exclusively. The vapor still comes out where it finds the smallest hole. But it holds more water than before. He lost about 4 out of 12 cups of water with steam. Now he loses 1.5-2 cups - it just takes a little longer to brew. To reduce steam exposure, I place/drape a (medium weight) bowling towel/towel over the kettle. The towel absorbs a lot of steam, reducing the amount of steam that gets to the bottom of the microwave/cabinets - not all, but a useful amount. Just hang it up to dry when you're done.
