Review on πŸ”Š Pioneer TS-D65C D Series 6-1/2" Component Speaker System: High-Quality Audio Solution for Immersive Sound Experience by Michael Persing

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Worst speaker I've tested in its price range.

I tried something. Pioneer does not specify T/S parameters anywhere. I have tested them in optimal cases, both with main unit and with full amp. If you were just listening to these speakers on their own and couldn't a/b them, I'm sure they would sound ok. Next to several IA/B speakers side by side - they were noticeably below the baseboard. Especially in the price range. I paid 160 for the kit - sad to compare them with 2 RS180P-4 and 2 Peerless NE25 tweeters. I choose this as my main comparison because those mids are $50 each, the tweeters are $30, so that's also $160.00. It wasn't that the Pioneers sounded different, or that they lacked in one area and excelled in another - it was because they lacked so much midrange detail around them that I double-checked the settings by checking the crossovers -Dots connected . The only speakers I'd go with were the virtually free JVCs that come with some Pioneer head units. Good - they were better than the free ones. Everything else I had available made them look like a bargain basement. Also, installing drivers next to the RS180 is like comparing a toy to a serious product. These speakers could be a decent set if they were $100.00 or less. About 160 - I personally give them to a friend who needs a refill because I can't consciously install them for my own pleasure or sell them to a friend because at 160 they're just a rip off because they work so poorly. . I also checked the T/S drivers and the FS came out at around 83Hz for each. (The full frequency of these freebies was 125 Hz lololol). Lacking mid-range detail, you might think they were bass-heavy - no, they just miss EVERYWHERE.

Pros
  • 2-way design
Cons
  • I don't remember, but
