Review on πŸ”“ Flexible Removable Platform for Ultra 235X235MM Printing by Eldrick Carlton

Well, too bad.

! To be clear, I only ordered the flexible plate! So it arrived quickly and was packaged perfectly and looked clean and fresh, just like a new product should be. The double-sided coating looks visually appealing. Upon closer inspection, as noted by other buyers, the slab itself is very thin. Dangerously thin in my opinion. Almost like a "fragile" skinny dude, I installed it on my heated bed (70C) and let it warm up until evenly heated. Then I checked for bending and warping. This is where it got ugly. The platter is too flimsy and reacts to the heat of the bed in a way that makes it unusable unless you have a full-size magnetic platter to attach it to. I don't know myself. I tape my flexible sheets over the glass surface to keep it smooth, flat and regular. I also tried securing it with binding clips. This solved the problem of the edges curling up, but then caused the middle of the bed to lift. Causes a high point in the middle of the bed. Then I turned the page and tried the idea, thinking it might just be one side's advantage over the other. At least no dice. The adhesion seems to be good for me and my setup. But when I saw it print when my Z axis bounced it legitimately lifted the center of the flex foil along with my print. rzunimag. Ouch! (Good thing it was just a short test run!). I will return it for a better record. I feel like the record could definitely be improved by making it thicker and using the same texture as it is now. Hopefully the company that makes them sees the subtle complaints and adjusts their design. You have a good idea, it just needs to be perfected in my opinion.

Pros
  • Strong adhesion
Cons
  • Very expensive
