Perfect way to protect my dog

I installed this myself and am not tech savvy. It took me a really long time to bury the wire, but that's okay because it works whether you bury it or not. The hardest part was calibrating the boundary distance. I have a Shiba Inu puppy who loves to slide in a harness and we live directly across from a VERY busy road. A physical fence is too expensive for the size of my yard, so we decided that an invisible fence would be the best option. I followed the included tutorial carefully and Larry learned it very well. I also bought extra flags because I really wanted to hang them up to help him learn his limits. Now I've started unchecking all the other boxes and it's working great. One mistake I made that I quickly learned to correct was that the collar was too loose. You need to tighten the collar tight enough. The book says how tight it is, but I gave him a little slack because he's a puppy. This mistake immediately became public when a man walked by with his dog and little Larry rushed right out of the yard to meet new friends. Zero reaction to bumps. It hasn't happened since I tightened the collar. The collar looks uncomfortable, but Larry is very good at telling us if he doesn't like something and doesn't mind. It's quite bulky for a 15 pound pup like him, but he gets used to it very quickly and doesn't seem to bother him at all. I tested the collar on myself at level 5 and it definitely gets your attention but doesn't hurt. Larry only needs level 3 to stay on the border. This fence saves lives. People fly down my street really fast, and Larry sometimes slips out of the harness, so this fence protects him in the yard and on the street, even if he sees a squirrel or a cat! He is still not afraid of daily walks, which is very important. I was worried it might negatively affect his walks because he was afraid to cross the line but he knows that if he doesn't hear the beep there is no solution so he never hesitates before crossing the line at one walk crosses.
