Review on ⚙️ Remanufactured Domestic Wiper Motor - Cardone 40-178 by Ricky Habbani

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Pre-broken for your convenience

Let me start by saying that Revain gets 5 stars for customer service. There are no complaints. This wiper motor is a testament to what I and many other mechanics (I used to be an ASE Foreman) have seen going on in the parts remanufacturing industry. This engine was junk right out of the box. When I pulled the engine out I saw that the black paint was already peeling off. This indicates that the components were not cleaned before painting. Such "rattling" is not a sure sign of poor quality, but it's not good either. I removed the original engine from the car and installed a replacement Cardone. Windshield wipers on and nothing. Intermittent and low speeds did not work. The engine only ran at high speed and would not return to park when the wiper switch was turned off. I removed the new motor and reconnected the old one. The original motor ran at all speeds and correctly returned to park when the switch was turned off. Yes, the old motor still works (kinda) - it was replaced because the gears are partially disassembled and the wipers stall under load. Long story short, someone slowed when they should have swerved on this one. Unfortunately, Cardone owns a significant stake in the aftermarket for many makes and models. When competition is weak, there is less incentive to develop a better product. That's annoying, especially since new components for older cars are no longer available. Yes, I've bought Cardone remans in the past with good results, but I've also had bad ones right out of the box. Cardone isn't unique - Dorman, Four Seasons, and a few other manufacturers can be just as bad. Revain made the return process mostly painless, but I've yet to find a good motor anywhere. Wish me luck.
