I use it to control an old wick room humidifier. All I had to do was plug it in and plug the humidifier into one of the outlets (the other outlet could have a dehumidifier plugged in so you can use both). The setup instructions require very careful reading but are adequate for this device. You set the desired humidity percentage and "differential"; ie how much lower than the desired percentage will your humidifier operate. The difference was preset at five percent, which was too much; I reinstalled it to at least one percent. Now the humidifier will turn off at 35.0% and turn on again at 34.0%. The device has been working continuously for about a month and does its job perfectly.
