Well those headlights make our van awesome. They produce a bright, warm light and are almost indistinguishable from the standard "battery sip" lamps that are always initially installed in mobile homes. I have installed other LED lights in used trailers and when we got our 'new' 21 inch hybrid I wanted to enjoy the same long boondock (dry camping) battery life as before. So I ordered them, they arrived quickly and installed them and they looked amazing and worked amazing. I made some changes and packed up the trailer last night and I had the exterior lights on (with these new LED bulbs). And I accidentally left it on when I went to the party and went to the party. When I came down to take the kids to school the next morning (about 10 hours later) I realized I had left it on. As I walked to the trailer to turn off the lights, I smelled hot/burning electronics. So I turned off the light and then I felt the lens covering it - very hot. But it would, even if I stuck with a standard bulb. I removed the lens to inspect the bulb and was greeted by a puff of smoke. The lamp has burned out and is very hot. About a minute after it cooled, I removed the bulb and examined the back (contour) of the bulb and found that it was also charred and melted. I am attaching photos of these lamps in "customer photos" to this article. I have a feeling if they are accidentally left on for a long time they will likely catch fire or be fairly close. It was an outside bulb on a chilly night, what can the inside light do if left on? These things get hot enough to burn you up in about 90 seconds or so, so I started noticing. Other bulbs I've bought in the past (although they were "cool white") didn't get as hot. Warm but not hot. This worries me, I will probably return them to find a safer alternative for my family of three boys. Yes, they like to leave the lights on. :)
