I was trying to avoid buying a special cable for the device from the manufacturer. Think 1000+ markup (literally). I first ordered another USB to RS-232 cable (multiple chipsets) but didn't notice that the product drivers listed FDTI. This cable fits the bill and works at a fraction of the cost. In general, if you are using this cable for a DIY project, I would suggest spending a few bucks more on an FDTI cable. It seems to work better with Windows 10 (unfortunately I'm forced to use it) and having learned the subject, it's more compatible in general. I noticed a lot of one star reviews on another cable stating it was DOA. I tend to think that people didn't do their research and were unaware of two common chipset styles that may or may not work in specific cases like mine. In short, this is a quality cable that I would recommend, but do your own research and make sure your device drivers aren't dependent on a powerful chipset.
