Review on πŸ”§ Versatile OTC 4591 Stinger Brake Spring Compressor Tool: Efficient and Easy Brake Spring Compression by Jeremy Black

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Quality that tool sets don't have

Like many people who may have the same problem of tools disappearing, regrowing legs or borrowing from friends, they've never been seen Again, MIA, I found myself in a situation where I was in dire need of a set of brake tools. OTC drugs are like most things. Tools, firms used to be of decent quality and brand. Prime and Amazon came through .OTC and this article, not much. Simple drum brake work struggled with every inch when I used them. I finally did [after several tight decisions and almost medical mishaps] and just used a pair of pliers and did it literally SECONDS after. Unlike my MIA Snapon, the so-called beveled cup grooves were practically NON-EXISTENT, at best only visible. You can't even catch them with a fingernail. Were they "used" and returned? You cannot "grab" or hold the top brake spring cap, so you can twist or turn the cap/spring to find the hole to install. The cup was/is almost smooth. Yes, it was pretty cheap, but it's actually a disposable quality tool. In the end, my other two will appear, my snapon and the old clerk. I COULD get some loops and a dremel and try to carve some real grooves into it, but it's not worth the time and effort. Will just return it as is and worst case scenario speed up the extra coin and visit the person withdrawing the money. I think they need love and sustenance. IF I can correct my comments I might try and take a b4 photo and post to bring it back. It's not even worth it for $8. Was useless to me. At least the tool I got. I'm trying to be honest and giving it a 2 out of 1 because someone can hand cut a beveled cup and maybe make a tool that actually works.

Pros
  • High marks for grip and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks
