Operates on 9V and AA batteries

back. Also, an analog meter makes testing capacitors easier, and digital meter tips drive me crazy. This Goldilocks meter, not too big, not too small, just right! This meter runs on both 9 volts and two AA batteries (see image). Obviously there is a lot of confusion about this, a picture is worth a thousand words. My only concern is that you have to remove the entire back of the meter to change/remove the batteries. Most gauges have a small hatch to access the batteries. And as others have pointed out, you should paint the end of the selector switch white so you know which end is which. Those issues aside, this is a very good counter at a great price. The backlit dial is a lifesaver if, like me, you use the meter in dark attics, under the hood of your car, or in a dark garage with no power.
