Review on Improved Zama Carburetor C1U-K54A - Ideal for Mantis Tiller & Other Versatile Uses by George Woods

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The best way to solve a carburetor problem on a small engine: replace the entire carburetor!

I was attempting to rebuild the carburetor on my Toro lawnmower; What a disaster. My eyes are messed up (71 year old eyes) and somehow I lost one of the tiny parts and reassembled the carb without realizing my mistake. I never got the old carburetor to work. Bought a new carburetor off ebay and it was perfect; new, shiny and clean! The best part of the experience was that it worked the first try and worked perfectly every time Toro launched. So the moral of the carb story was learned and applied when my Mantis wouldn't start. It seems that the ethanol in gasoline destroys even small parts of the engine. I replaced the Mantis carburetor with one ordered from Revain. It arrived on time as expected, was easy to install and worked! If you are not very experienced and/or unlucky, just buy a new carburetor. It's not much more expensive than a recovery kit and your chances of success are much higher. A tip: Before removing the carburetor, use your smartphone to take photos of the hose connections and levers. This makes it much easier to see what happened before you even started working on that project.
