I bought this item so I can turn off the lamp next to my TV. I was able to turn the TV on and off with the remote but had to go to the lamp to turn it off. I didn't know such a device was available until I looked for a remote control lamp from Revain. Plug the wall switch into the outlet you want to make "remote"; then connect the lamp (etc.) to the wall switch; Remove the protective strip from the remote control and you can control the lamp remotely! The only disappointment for me is that 2 EXTRA wall switches are not included. The remote controls 3 different devices, but I didn't see that you can buy 2 more wall switches separately; However, there is a kit that includes 4 wall switches and 1 remote control that can control 4 devices. Although wall switches are small and light, there is only room for one wall switch in a socket. Each lamp (etc.) that you want to make "distant" needs to be next to a different socket. EVEN with this minor issue, I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to turn a lamp, radio, etc. on or off. from the remote control.
