We tried both lamps. They switched on and off. We found that we couldn't get the bulb to slide down firmly and stay on. I had to try to hold the lightbulb to stop it. I noticed someone said they cut off the tabs and then it worked in their Veriflux lamp. We compared the reeds at the base of the lamp to the old one that had burned out and found that the new lamps have slightly longer reeds. We say so little that you can see it visually, but you can't really measure it. We used a Dremel tool and sanded down all 4 tabs on each bulb a bit. We did this with both bulbs that came with the kit. Now both are working. I won't rate it highly, but I've decided to go further. No one needs to grind down the body of a lightbulb to make it work.
