Without buying a new faucet or replacing the old plumbing (a horrible thought), I was able to replace the old cartridge in less than 3 minutes and now you have a practically new faucet! Since the moving part is in the cartridge itself, there was no need to clean the old case or anything. If you know which end of the pliers to hold, you can easily do it yourself. I've just ordered another cartridge to replace the one in our bathtub faucet because the existing cartridge can be pulled out with two hands and I'd rather not break the pipes! The same cartridge is available locally for $32 plus tax (still cheaper than a new faucet and plumbing), but I don't mind waiting a few days and paying less than half that amount!
