Engine off; This pump is noisy until the line is pressurized. You never hear it with the engine running. I use it as a helper for my mechanical pump on a D150 pickup. If necessary, it could only work with a (carburettor) engine. If the power to this electric pump was lost, my mechanical pump still didn't seem to have any fuel delivery problems. I recommend that you enable the "Turn off engine" solution as suggested in the installation guide. The pump is self-adjusting, and if the pump is left on after the engine is off, you will smell the fuel the pump is dispensing to regulate itself.
