This is normal given the many similar products on the market. The LED lights require a total of 11 AAA batteries (3 AAA in each LED plus two more AAA in the remote), meaning you'll need a large collection of those AAA batteries to get three lights working. You can save yourself the hassle of using two fewer AAA batteries, as you can press the top of each puck to turn the light on and off, but the "Low" brightness setting is only available with the remote. The remote controls are infrared based and only work in 'line of sight', which can be a problem, especially when installed under a kitchen counter, for example. eats up all batteries in less than a couple of hours. The low setting is about 30% brightness. I would have thought that the batteries would last a bit longer with this reduced brightness, but I haven't confirmed that yet. The remote also has a 30 minute timer. They're generally cheap, but they work! Rate them three stars!
