Where to start?1. After unboxing the lens, I mounted it on my X-Pro1 and found that all the numbers printed on the lens barrel were facing the ground. I removed the lens and noticed the mounting pin on its mounting plate is on the opposite side of the pin socket on the camera body. This was fixed by removing the mounting plate from the lens using a Phillips screwdriver to remove 4 small screws, realigning the plate and then reinstalling the screws. The numbers on the lens barrel are now facing up.2. With the X-Pro1's top-focus EVF, the lens focused accurately until I let go of the shutter, and the lens immediately defocused slightly. The same thing happened when the lens was mounted on my other two Fujifilm mirrorless cameras. So much for manual focus!3. Okay, but what about zone focus? (Thanks for the question). The lens does not focus at the appropriate distances set on the focus bar, including at infinity. For zone focus at say 7ft, you would need to measure an object 7ft from your camera position with a tape measure, manually focus using the inevitable focus shift (see above) and mark that exact position on the useless lens focus scale for further use. On the rare occasions when the stars align and the lens is actually in focus, this can help produce a very pleasing image - hence the one star rating.
