I live at the end of a dead end street. Preventing service trucks (and pizza delivery people) from turning in our driveway (cobblestones - very difficult to clean) is great. There wasn't enough length with the chains, but that's not a problem. We put pebbles and gravel in it, they are very stable. However, the weight of the chain (even light plastic) can cause a slight vertical tilt. I have a plan for stainless steel screws.
