Because the volume in certain applications and locations is higher or lower than others, it depends on how well they work. I decided to take them with me on a trip instead of headphones. Because of people talking I just couldn't hear the video I really wanted to see. I then switched it to Spotify and was able to drown out other noises pretty well. These headphones are comfortable and stay in place - actually better than in-ear headphones, which sometimes detach and fall out. However, the headphones always work to hear what I want, but these don't. So I would choose it when I'm alone or in a more quiet place. I would take my headphones with me if there is noise outside. But they are good and worth buying.
