If I could give negative stars I would! I don't know about strength or durability because I haven't let it sit in my jar that long. The straw made the soft drink I just opened taste downright awful - it was a chemical taste! To make sure it wasn't just my soft drink, I poured out the rest of my glass, poured the rest of the soft drink into my glass and tasted it and it was fine. So it was straw! I'm all for doing my part to save the planet without plastic straws, but if you can't make paper straws without them tasting like they've been chemically treated, I will never buy paper straws again! I come from the days when there were only paper straws long before there were plastic straws and they knew how to make them as tasteless as they should be. It seems like 60 years have passed and you should find a manufacturer who knows how to make paper straws nowadays without the chemical flavor?
