Review on ⚡ Powerful Schumacher SC1279 8A 12V Rapid Charger - Supercharge Your Vehicle's Battery in No Time! by Josh Elkins

There are some issues, generally works as described

My example often lights up with a "Battery Bad" after charging a nearly dead battery. I have to turn it off and on again, which causes it to take a little longer to charge and then go into maintenance mode as intended. I've had this on two different batteries, one of which was less than a year old. Both batteries actually work perfectly. When the device is charging it will actually run at over 8 amps if connected to a large enough battery (mine was charged at around 8.5 amps if I remember correctly, measured with a DC clamp). At this price you can't get another well known brand charger that charges as fast and also has a maintenance mode - I would definitely recommend it for anything that has a medium to large sized battery (like cars, boats, tractors etc.) . ). ) Please note that this charger is NOT ideal for the following purposes: Battery maintenance during actual vehicle use, e.g. B. when the stereo system is switched on or headlights are switched on. Any sudden discharge will cause the charger to assume the battery has an internal problem and report a "bad battery" - small batteries like a generator or ATV. The charging current of 8A is generally too high for them. The charger *works* as a last resort, but a lower charge rate (1-2A) is recommended. Update: Schumacher contacted me to explain the maintenance mode of this charger. It's adequate but not as good as some of the others. This charger checks the battery every 5-6 hours for maintenance and then charges the battery as needed. This is better for the battery than a true "floating" charger (which only keeps the battery at 3.6V), but not as good as chargers that constantly monitor the voltage and initiate charging/service when needed (Noco chargers do this for example ). Schumacher behaves normally 99% of the time, and its cost is 1/3 the cost of many other 8A chargers. If you don't need desulfation modes, repair modes, and temperature compensation, this is a great deal.
