I bought this model because it has a separate power supply. All TV converters on the market are of the same poor quality. Those that don't have a separate power source get hot and only run for a couple of months before the internals burn out. I opened them up after they stopped working and there was significant heat damage inside. Such devices are flammable and should not be sold. This device is supplied without batteries. I hate having my own batteries only to find they don't work. I didn't have time to write it down. The device did not recognize the USB (message "USB not plugged in"). There was also a very large delay when using the remote control. I have an older model (HW180STB) and it works with the same stick. The older model has an internal power supply and I only turn it on to record and then immediately turn it off. I use RCA converters for watching TV. The only other model I could find with an external power supply. They work just like other converted boxes on the market, which means they are not user friendly, difficult to program, reset spontaneously and often, don't record, etc. The most serious disadvantage of RCA devices is that recorded files are corrupted and won't play properly
