Bought this for my kids to access kitchen countertops. The extra 2 inches of headroom over standard 9-inch chairs is key. Works as it should. As some have pointed out, beware of pinch points, especially with young children who may get their fingers trapped and cannot get out. Adequate warning + supervision/help is helpful but yes - there is a small risk to the little ones. All in all a good solid stool. Please note: We also purchased a Melissa and Doug stool - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KTYD7X/ref=cm_sw_r_tw_dp_U_x_tQKsCb98RXAM8. This stool is too heavy, it cannot be lifted small, and an adult needs 2 hands to lift it - too heavy and not easy to move. And we're talking about step stools, so it's important to be able to move them around easily. This folding stool from Greenco is the right product. Melissa and Doug - Not good for every use case.
