Review on πŸ“Έ Dazzle DM22000: High-Speed Universal 8-in-1 Digital Media Reader/Writer for Seamless Data Transfer by Jon Hill

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works great with WinXP SP2 with CF and SD cards.

This card reader has been working great for me since the first time I connected it to my computer. She. Therefore, if you are using one of these systems, DO NOT install the drivers provided as they can actually slow down the performance of the device. Try before installing drivers. If they work, DO NOT install them. I read that if you install unnecessary drivers you may limit the speed on USB 1 or cause other problems; You should probably only use the supplied CD if you are using Win98. I've used the reader/writer with CF cards up to 512MB and SD cards up to 1GB and had no problems; I can't speak for other media types. Make sure you insert the card correctly, which isn't so obvious: CF cards are inserted label side up, just like in your camera, but SD cards label side down and of course with the electrical contacts on the front edge. This model doesn't have indicator lights to show when the card is properly inserted, but I've gotten so much of it that I can't complain about it. Some complaints in other reviews: the guy who says he inserted the CF card sideways and can't eject it must be talking about SD cards which are much smaller; I've tried and it's not possible to insert the CF card before losing it. Another guy complained about a problem with an unsupported card type. These complaints are totally unfair. If your garden hose is chewed up because you ran it over with a new lawnmower, will you blame the lawnmower manufacturer for not banning you from doing so? If you do something stupid, take responsibility, don't blame the manufacturer.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Minor issues
