Review on πŸ”‘ Mighty Mule FM137 Wireless Digital Keypad: Convenient Access Control Solution by Chris Long

Poor technical design and support

I purchased this item to use in a battery powered wired control scenario but found that there was no way to get it to work. Also, there is little to no information in the user guide, and there was no online support. I'm a circuit designer and familiar with debugging electrical systems, so my complaints are corroborated by the (tedious waste of time) debugging circuit boards from their PCB with an oscilloscope and setting jumpers manually. The user manual claims that wired control is possible, but the COM and OUT output connection has no output even after going through their instructions. Also, I've verified that COM and OUT remain high impedance (so it's not the kind of pin that internally shorts when connected) when the correct key combination is pressed. This was checked with an oscilloscope and a multimeter. Neither in the user manual nor on the website I found almost no technical information that could help me to go one step further. I've contacted online support but found that the Mighty Mule website's support page looks very nice and fictitiously helpful on the first page. However, I urge you to check the page visit as if you have a problem and you will find that there is almost no information on the subsequent pages and you have no opportunity to email them. Other customers were also unable to reach Mighty Mule by phone. The FAQs look quite long, but this is the kind of FAQ that has more to do with quantity than quality, such as "My goal hit something and stopped working" and other nonsensical options. In short, if it works for you, then congratulations! If not, you might still be able to get this to work, but only if you're well-equipped with electrical debugging tools.
