Give your truck extra mobility!

For a long time I've wanted to mount a frame on my truck and then set up a roof tent. I watched tons of videos on youtube looking at the pros and cons but ended up never getting around to it due to the price. But I love to ride outside and have adventures. So I decided to try a truck tent. I have a Toyota Tacoma and this tent fits very well. It will take a little time to set up initially, but once you've done it a few times, things become pretty easy. The extra height you get from lying in the back of a truck really adds to the experience and is very different from your regular ground tent. I would easily recommend this for 1-2 people, maybe 2.5 (if you have a small child) or 3 if everyone doesn't mind curling up and getting closer. The tent has a decent height. When installing, make sure that the side flaps are fixed above the bed. Didn't get a chance to test it in the rain, but I sprayed it with a hose. The inside of the tent stayed dry but I noticed that a bit still piled up at the foot of the bed and got stuck in the space between the bed and the tent. It wasn't a big problem as it didn't affect the area I had to lie on too much, but it's something to keep in mind. When camping on a truck bed, I've also experienced the same challenges as with rooftop tents, namely balancing the truck bed for storage and parking on level ground. The cargo bed needs to be empty when you pitch this tent, so it's best to store things in the cabin or have easily removable items in the cargo bed. Once you figure out all the logistics, it's a great experience. Not to mention a fraction of the cost of a stand and roof tent. Overall I'm a big fan of this truck tent. The best recommendation I can give is to make sure you find one that fits your truck body, preferably all at once. If you have discussed about buying a roof top tent for your truck, try it first as you will encounter many similar problems. For my part I may get another one in the future but I am very happy with the performance and flexibility this tent gives me and will be using it for a while.
