The thing absolutely works. Telling my miniature golddoodle to shut up, ignore it, timeout it, etc. didn't work at all. Got it, told him to be quiet, and when he kept barking, hit the containment button. My dog clearly realized it was a horrible sound and immediately stopped barking and ran away. Then I had to give him many assurances that I loved him and that I wasn't trying to kill him. Since the containment button seemed a bit too much for me, I used the pull button next time. That too was effective, but didn't strike him as terrible. I picked it up and showed it to him a few times after that and he immediately stopped barking. Now all I have to do is say softly and he will stop. He also doesn't start barking like he used to.
