Ocean mapping not much better than Humminbird basemap

Got a Navionics East chart and installed it in my 7" Humminbird Mega Helix sonar. After I installed the card, did the device recognize the card as a fish and chip card? The ocean mapping wasn't very impressive. The Humminbird basemap looked better and was easier to read. I checked lakes in upstate New York and the maps show a lot more data with more contours. Ideal for sea fishermen. Incredible details.
