Review on πŸ”Œ Ultimate Roadmaster 76511 FuseMaster Harness: Enhancing Your Vehicle's Electrical System Safely & Efficiently by Tyler Kota

Okay, so it fits (although I had to splice five more inches of wire). But Honda gives you the wrong fuse

This review is only for a 2014 Honda CR-V: I decided to fit a fusemaster switch in the black panel blank to the left of the steering column. I wasn't sure what was behind that panel, so I removed it before drilling the 3/4" hole. It would be better to leave it where it is. And not too deep. , and on There was a lot of plastic construction on the back of the flat panel that had to be removed with a file, the ring nut wasn't needed by the way, the switch just twisted tight. To access this panel, the top and bottom panels on this side were easily ripped off with a tug .The plug then detached when I squeezed the top and bottom tabs on the back to release it.I also found that I need the fairing to see the fuse box which by the way has no cover.I pulled one 7.5 ATM LP #19 (ACC) low profile fuse out and tried pushing the tabs back to where they were.Didn't work.So I tried the fuse extender that came with it which is n I couldn't fit in the empty fuse socket because I thought the cord was too short, so the fuse extender tried to insert the socket at an angle. I was convinced it didn't fit in the tiny ATM LP fuse socket. I called Roadmaster and after speaking to their engineer and looking at the pictures I sent they assured me that adding a few inches of 12 gauge wire would do the trick. I got the wire and found that their wire was 14 or 16 gauge, so I used 14 to join the extra length into two leads. Then the adapter fits easily. Therefore, placing the switch in the location on the dash specified by their instructions made it too short to reach the fuse box. The extra effort cost them two stars. It took me three hours to figure it all out, with trips to the store to get wires and fuses. By the way, you need a mini fuse of the same amperage to put it in its built in fuse holder. The Honda fuse is much smaller than the mini fuse required for the built-in holder. Then I flipped the switch and nothing changed. I turned the key on the accessory and no matter what position the switch was in, all of my navigation devices and LCD screens were still lit. Hm? I called Honda and they read me the owner's manual. I knew that to tow a 2014 CRV you would need to remove the 7.5A fuse at position 19. But so far I don't see how this will reduce battery drain when towing. I think Honda specified the wrong fuse to remove. I can't blame Roadmaster for that, but if I were her I'd love to get to the bottom of it. By the way, forget about resetting fuse number 19. Is always. You can't get it back Not enough space. I kept dropping it into the dash case next to the parking brake where it was out of reach. So if you want to remove it your only option is to replace the switch with a Roadmaster, Rvi or another brand. Finally, if you're trying to find a system to help you tow a newer Honda CR-V model, don't do it! The 2014 model was the last CR-V that could be towed flat. As soon as they delivered the CRT powertrain in 2015, they went out of the toad business. I was going to buy a 2015 and got a late 2014 instead. Flat towing behind my RV. Follow-up: In the middle of a four-month overland trip, I found that my flyfly was not working. A Ford dealership in Bedford, Pennsylvania took pity on me and asked a technician to inspect my Honda CR-V to see why the 12 volt plug was not working. While he was doing a troubleshooting exercise, I happened to notice that the fusemaster switch was in the off position. I turned it on and the brake came alive. Apparently the Fuse 19 works with a cigarette lighter (12V plug) and not with a radio as Honda claims. I later found Roadmaster's phone number and texted her husband about the situation. He responded immediately and told me that Honda had indeed specified the wrong fuse. He gave me the right fuse for the radio. But four months later I can't find it. I will try to post it here. In the meantime, if you're buying a fusemaster for a 2014 Honda CR-V, give Roadmaster a call and they'll tell you which fuse slot it fits. Not 19. Oddly, I'm planning to buy another fusemaster to mount, maybe further under the dash. . I like being able to turn off the brakes at night. I will be buying a second Fusemaster to use as a radio when traveling. So I've raised my rating from 3 to 4 stars because of the good customer service. I would give five stars if the cables were longer.
