Review on πŸŒ€ Minka-Aire F753-WHF, Java Outdoor Ceiling Fan 54-inch Flat White with Remote Control by Tina Cruz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I bought 6, they look great, quiet and light. I will buy more when I'm done.

In the last 15 months I have purchased 6 of these fans for our new home. I just installed the 6th. This took about 40 minutes. The initial appeal of this fan was its flat white color with short suspension and minimalist appearance. They "snuggle up" (relatively speaking) to the blanket and since our blankets are even white, they harmonize perfectly with it. There are 3 blades but they work great. There are 3 speeds. At low speed they are almost inaudible, but there is a pleasantly quiet breeze. At the other two speeds, it's the sound of the compressed air rather than the fan itself. 90% of the time the fan runs at the first speed. When I come back from a hot day, I sometimes turn the fan on to 2nd or 3rd speed before turning it off. The remote control is useful for several reasons. First, it can instantly go to any speed you want. There is no bike tour. Second, if I turn off the wall switch and turn the wall switch back on, the fan continues in the mode it was last in - off, first speed, second speed, or third speed. That way I can turn off the wall switch when I leave the TV room and it will stop. When I return to the room, I just turn on the switch. And yes, the fan is quiet enough that I don't have to turn up the volume to hear TV. The booklet states that the fan consumes only 15 watts at first speed. This allows us to keep the fan running in the pet room at all times. Overall, using fans has allowed us to reduce our energy bills by about 35% by setting the thermostats to 75 and instead running fans in the rooms we are in. It's pretty comfortable even when I'm sleeping. I'm not an electrician. The instructions are well designed and easy to understand. Below are pictures with explanations. There are little labels on the wires to tell you what to connect them to. The only tools I needed were wire strippers that came out of the ceiling and a screwdriver. I also used a cheap voltmeter to make sure there is power when the wall switch is on and no power when the wall switch is off. What have I learned. A) Wire nuts, which screw onto the ends of the wires, are used to connect the fan to the household power supply with the remote control receiver inside the fan. After connecting the wires and removing them into the case of the block, 2 wires jumped out of the nuts. It's important to pull on the wires after installing the nuts to make sure they are tight, otherwise you will have to remove the covers, reattach the wires, and reattach the covers (about 5 minutes). B) Ironically, the first fan I bought had something wrong with the remote control receiver. I called Minky's helpdesk. They walked me through the diagnostic process, determined I needed a new remote control receiver, and sent it on the air to me the next day. I installed it and it worked great. They asked me to send the bad receiver back to find out what went wrong. Needless to say I was overall impressed when I bought 5 more afterwards. Since then I haven't had any problems. My next project are outdoor fans. We plan to stick with Minky except she will be a different style and color.
