People bad reviews! This isn't rocket science. This slicer is great. Just make sure to slide the knife slowly while pressing the knife firmly against one side of the cutting slot. In other words, the slot EXISTS more than the thickness of the knife, so keep sliding the knife across one side of the slot. And don't cut the bamboo when you cut it. You can also still press the bread firmly against the guide with your finger as you may still be squeezing the sides of the slicer. I just made my first bread and had no learning curve. My bread is great! Oh I agree that the knife is too short and useless. Buy a good bread knife!
