He has abused mine a lot since I bought it in April. I grind 8 tablespoons of coffee at a time at least once a day, rub the entire coffee maker against the countertop to make sure all the beans are ground and all the coffee grounds get into the cup, and it's been like this ever since. I usually add as many beans as I will make, 1) to keep fresh and 2) to mix and match flavors and decaf/regular coffee and grind to level 7 (medium) for the perfect dripper. The machine will stop grinding if you take the cup out early, so I'm assuming this is some sort of 'safety' feature. even grinding.
