Review on πŸ“’ Onyehn IR Pyroelectric Infrared PIR Motion Sensor Detector Modules DC 2.7 to 12V(Pack of 5pcs): Enhance Your Security with Reliable Motion Detection by Shawn Xayamonty

I love little things like that

Failed to load media. These PIR sensors were very easy to use. They are logically "low" when they don't detect anything, and then go "high" (about +3.3 volts in my tests) when triggered. When idling, it consumes very little voltage. I use them to trigger a pin interrupt on an atmega328p. They have been the most reliable Halloween props I've built this year. I've searched 10m of shielded cable and it could still cause an open. This allows me to place the PIR sensor at a reasonable distance from the prop. A "bug" I encountered was quite interesting. I placed some brand new 4xAA batteries in the prototype battery holder along with some other modifications I made to "strengthen" the board. My PIR has stopped working. None of the five I received in the package worked. I was a little confused and confused so I started diagnosing. I've seen the triggered IR sensor send out a signal of around +3.3 volts. However, the new batteries supplied the chip with 6.5 volts. This was too high and the +3.3 volts no longer reached the "high" threshold to cause an interrupt. In any case, 6.5 volts is above the maximum value listed for the avr atmega. I added a diode in series (in series) with the power supply to drop the voltage by about 0.6 volts. After that all was right with the world again

Pros
  • Pretty packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember
