I read many reviews, especially those with 1-2 stars and decided to give it a try anyway. heavy sheet materials like 3/4" thick MDF. We load our sheet materials from the truck straight onto our panel saw, but even so, working with these sheet materials is tough on our aging wrists, and usually one man handles the panel saw. The tool works. how However as described you cannot unload the sheet at all or it will immediately slip out. Example - on the first sheet I tried - 3/4" MDF, I wanted to shift my grip on the tool a little to get a better grip . To do this, I lifted the weight of the board slightly, and in that split second the board's weight disappeared as it "bounced," slipping out of the grip and falling. The toes weren't broken so I tried again, this time I got up on the board quickly and again intentionally dropped the weight and it immediately slipped. So the moral of the story is to move slowly and confidently when you get your grip or need to change your body position - lower the board and then raise it again, he never unloads the board and moves very smoothly and slowly and we know why I'm not sure if it's ok to use it on ladders or scaffolding but I would certainly give the above comment a try but now we always use the gripper when handling our sheet goods we have had no problems smoothly sliding MDF out of the unit as mentioned in other reviews. Hope this helps with your decision.
