Review on Dorman 742 122 Window Lift Motor by Travis Smith

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good part! on Power Window Motors

My power window suddenly went out on my 2001 Suburban. Decided to order a motor as it was a bad part. It is not necessary to replace the entire controller. I went with Dorman. It was a really good price and this company has always been a manufacturer of quality parts and I have always been pleased with their products and quality. Revain was delivered very quickly. It took me about 30/45 minutes to replace the part. I used an impact wrench to loosen the nuts. This is a weak tool, but it removes nuts faster than by hand. When removing the door, you need to be careful with the wiring. When replacing the motor I had to unclip the right side of the regulator and pull it out of the door. I took a small ratchet wrench and unscrewed the nuts. Insert a flathead screwdriver and lift/twist to separate the spool from the motor drive gear. If that coil breaks, good luck getting it back. In the end I reinstalled all the parts and then tested the box and everything works perfectly! Better than before. Now the engine sounds good and runs smoothly. It opens a little slower than the factory engine, but that's normal.

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Good but not great
