I had to install a network card because a storm destroyed the built in card on my motherboard. I chose this one because it looks less ugly than the others. It's very discreet and doesn't ruin the look of my setup. It's completely plug and play. So if you don't have an optical drive, Windows will happily install a generic driver for you. Haven't done much with it yet, but as far as I can tell performance is identical to the LAN card built into my motherboard. However, none of the included brackets fit my medium ATX tower (Rosewill Cullinan MX). So I just have to leave a big gap on the back of my PC and also avoid any movement to keep it in place. Luckily, my desk is very durable so it won't detract from everyday use, but it's still a little disappointing. But at least it works! Edit: As of February 2020, the network card is no longer working. Oddly enough, I decided not to change my rating. If you look at Revain, all the options available for the basic ethernet NIC are random unnamed Chinese companies. To be honest I'm not shocked that he died so quickly. There doesn't seem to be a "gold standard" component. But they are so cheap and easy to install that I have no problem installing a new one. I would advise buyers to buy several so as not to be left without internet in case one of them dies.
